SPL provides 100% coverage less modest deductible for health insurance and several other benefits. Less than 5,000 companies of any size in the United States provide this level of coverage and SPL has been providing this benefit to our eligible employees for 15 consecutive years.
Medical:** SPL provides an open access health plan (requires no gatekeeper or referrals) with BCBS. Our plan has a very low deductible and office co-pays. BCBS has a large provider network. Coverage becomes effective on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
Prescriptions: ** SPL’s prescription plan provides participants with a co-pay plan for generic, name brand and non formulary drugs. The benefit is included with our medical plan at no additional cost to the employee. The employee is only required to pay the applicable co-pay directly to the pharmacy. We also provide a mail-in pharmacy benefit for maintenance drugs.
Dental:** SPL’s dental coverage is a PPO through Sunlife, it includes coverage for preventative, basic and major dental work. The plan pays both in and out of network benefits, has no deductible for preventative care and a minimal deductible for other services. For eligible employees, coverage becomes effective on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
Life (Employee): SPL provides a $50,000.00 Accidental Death and Dismemberment and Life Insurance plan to employees at no cost to the employee. For eligible employees, coverage becomes effective on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
Disability: SPL provides Long Term Disability for all eligible employees at no cost to the employee. The benefit is 60% of monthly earnings with a maximum of $5,000.00 per month. The benefit begins after the 180th absence and the duration is up to age 65 (reducing Social Security benefit duration). Coverage becomes effective on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
Supplemental Insurance: SPL provides access to supplemental insurance plans through AFLAC for all eligible employees. AFLAC supplemental insurance provides an additional level of financial protection in the event of a serious accident or illness. AFLAC benefits are purchased through an AFLAC agent and employee premiums are paid via payroll deduction. If purchased, coverage becomes effective on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment.
Emergency Travel Assistance: SPL provides worldwide emergency travel assistance services to eligible employees at no additional cost. When traveling for business or pleasure, in a foreign country or just 100 miles from home, you and your family can count on getting help in the event of a medical emergency. Coverage becomes effective on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
EAP- Life Balance Program: SPL provides an Employee Assistance/Life Balance Program to all of our employees at no additional cost to the employee. This program can help you find solutions for the everyday challenges of work and home as well as for more serious issues involving emotional and physical well – being. Coverage becomes effective on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
Simple IRA: The IRA plan is offered to eligible employees through pre-tax payroll deductions which are matched, in part, by company contributions. Employees are eligible for the plan effective on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
Vacation: SPL provides vacation with pay after one year of continuous employment. Vacation is provided based on years of service: After the one – year anniversary of employee’s hire date, the employee is eligible for one week (5 working days) of paid vacation. After the two – year anniversary, the employee is eligible for two weeks (10 working days) of paid vacation. At the end of the fifth year of service, all employees are eligible for three weeks (15 working days) of paid vacation. At the end of the tenth year of service, employees are eligible for four weeks (20 working days) of paid vacation.
PDO Time: PDO time starts accruing immediately and is available for use after 90 days of continuous employment. The amount of PDO you earn each year is based on hours worked. PDO is earned as you work. You will not earn PDO time while you are on an unpaid leave of absence, long term disability, or on paid vacation.

Holidays: SPL recognizes 6 regular paid holidays each year for eligible employees. They are: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas. Employees are eligible for holiday pay after the completion of 40 worked hours.
Employee Activities: SPL provides several employee social and recognition events throughout the year. Some of the past events have included family picnics, pot luck luncheons and Christmas parties.
